Wonderful Red VAs that hearken back to McClellands
HOLY COW!!! Finally found a good replacement for McClelland's Red-Cake!! Haven't had anything this close compare! Oh Happy Day! I am a HUGE fan of all McClelland blends and was devastated when they closed their doors. Since, I have been on the hunt to find any blends that can either replicate or at least come close to some of these blends. I haven't found any direct replacements. However, I have yet to find any the directly correlate, though I will share on this forum if I find any for those interested. With all that being said, this blend seems to be a good replacement, not exact replica, for McClelland's 5100 RedCake. I'm going to experiment with adding this tobacco to a few others to see how close I can get to some McClelland blends. It's a nice ribbon cut of red and brown tobaccos that loads and lights easily with the standard two light method. It stayed lit easy with light tamping and regular sipping. It had some rough edges if sipped too hard or too often. Otherwise it was a perfectly sweet, sour, tangy, bready and just a bit toasty. Flavors remind me of all the VAs in the McC. blends. Love it!! This will be a go-to and staple from me going forward.

Surprisingly good.
I’m a huge fan of this particular Virginian as it doesn’t taste too green and it’s super smooth, nevertheless, it could benefit from some age.

Delicious red Virginia
Gave this 4 stars only because the legendary mclleland 5100 is at #1 but they don’t make the blend anymore. This Virginia is very sweet and is good as is. I bought 8 oz to cellar and hopefully in the future it can match with the legendary. But what do I know, am no expert.???

Calidad
Very good quality, good cut.

McClelland? No, but still delicious.
A nice vinegar hit dissipates to a nice, smooth, sweet and bready smoke. This one is my boo.

Sutliff 515
If you are looking for a Replacement for 5100 well there isn’t one. If you're looking for a Good Red Virginia blend. Look no further. This blend is sweet great taste. Easy to light and burns down to great ash. Would I Recommend Sutliff 515? Absolutely. It’s a great all day smoke at a Great price. Hope this helps. Keep em burning...

A good straight Virginia.
Although I primarily ordered this to mix with English & crossover blends, 515 is a rather nice smoke as is. It's a touch too moist (but mixes perfectly with dry English blends) Has a tangy/sour note that's pleasant. Mild to medium in strength with similar nic-hit. This is a rather nice straight Virginia that I'm happy to recommend.

nice sub for 5100
This is a nice Virginia that is shag cut and has that familiar ketchup note in the tin/bag. Comes in one pound bag which might be a bit much for some but allows plenty for the cellar. I like to dry it out a bit and sip slowly to get the full Virginia flavor. Can burn hot if freight trained.

I bought a whole pound
Such a great baccy. Great 5100 replacement. Bought a whole pound of it. Thinking to put some age on it. I'd buy it again for sure.
