    Sutliff 507-S Stoved Virginia

I can't enough good things about this tobacco. It's a rough cut bright Virginia that has been essentially cooked at a low temperature for a time. The sugars in the tobacco carmelize and the tobacco turns black. But this isn't a cavendish and it has no topping that I can distinguish. It's just good, straight Virginia. There is lots of flavor in this tobacco. I get a rather dark, fruity sweetness along with a bit of earthiness. Very little, if any, grassiness here. It is a little spicy to me, yet very mild. Absolutely an all-day smoke, and at a great price, too!

Sutliff Tobacco Company - Stoved Virginia #507-S

Posted by Robert Sackler on 14th Sep 2019

Let me start by saying emphatically that this is not your typical black tobacco flavored with all manner of sugars, berries, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, etc. #507-S is a straight Virginia that has been heated to enhance its sweetness, depth, and richness while concurrently mitigating the sharpness and tongue bite associated with Virginia tobacco. As best as I can determine, it contains no burley, cavendish, or anything else. It burns slowly and delivers a rich, sweet, tangy smoke. 507-S is coarse cut tobacco and may require 2 or 3 lights to get it going just right but, thereafter, it is cool and fruity with more earthy flavors coming to the fore toward the end of the bowl. Does not smoke harsh or wet. Clean burning with a light grey ash and mild nic hit. For me, this is an all-day smoke.

    Sutliff 507 s

Provides immediate Associations of McClelland. Fruity, deep and rough despite being mild. Perfect humidity and can be smoked right away. Must express with mixing with other tobaccos. Very good tobacco and must be a bargain compared to the good price. Highly recommended!!
