Plum Pudding is the most popular luxury tobacco in America. Ever wonder why its called Plum Pudding? Years ago, when Joe Lankford created this legendary English style tobacco he decided to name it for a special holiday treat cherished for centuries in England. The Plum Pudding has long been the centerpiece of Christmas holidays -- a tradition honored to this day. And Seattle Pipe Club's Plum Pudding blends are the centerpiece of luxury tobacco fans everywhere.

SPC brand pipe tobaccos have been the equivalent of trending in the pipe tobacco community. As soon as the first blends were released in micro batch form in 2007, the club has experienced the snowball effect of popularity. Arguably their most delicious and popular blend is the Plum Pudding. This is a strong mixture of five different tobaccos, but seems to be one of the silkiest textured tobaccos out there. People are going crazy over this blend. Order your new tin today!

Seattle pipe club plum pudding
I bought a tin of this to see what the fuss was about. I have dipped Copenhagen Smokeless tobacco for 38 years and quit by switching to pipes. Captain Earle’s 10 Russians are the standard by which I measure all other blends. C&D’s Pirate Kake is a close second, but Plum Pudding is a huge disappointment to me.

Raisin Custard
Really trusty good smoke. Easy to enjoy. You can just chooch away on this stuff with very little bite. Big balanced flavor. Thick white smoke. Complex and compelling and those big thick cakey slices. I almost wanna eat it.

Solid for Everyday
First, kudos to tobaccopipes.com for their free and expedient delivery. I am won over by a larger competitor. As to plum pudding, an excellent Balkan style blend with a pleasing top note. To my taste, this becomes an aromatic. Despite this and even as such the blend merits a five-star rating for its easy smoking. Strong enough, spicy, yes, but easy on the palette. I find myself going to it all day long. It made my rotation despite the hype. Cornell and Diehl blend Super Balkan and Byzantium. If one should wish to explore stronger nonaromatic blends, I recommend those in that order.

Good, but a bit overhyped.
I will start off by saying that when I received this, 75% of the flakes had come apart during shipping. The tin was mostly already rubbed out, and the few flakes left were broken into chunks. That being said, the tin note is pretty great. Deep, dark, hearty fruit and smoke. Dried it out a bit before the first taste, which seemed to help with an even burn. To me, this blend is pretty mild and even-keeled. I could see this being part of my rotation. I like the mellow flavor of this tobacco, but I just feel like there is something missing. Perhaps my view will change as it continues to age. Overall, I would recommend giving it a try. I would also like to try the Plum Pudding Special Reserve to see how it compares.

A very good Balkan
It took me a few bowls to come to a solid opinion on SPC's "Plum Pudding", but I think I can honestly say that it is a very good Balkan blend. Of the two SPC blends I've tried, I think "Potlatch" is even better! But "Plum Pudding" is certainly close behind. I know one thing for sure: I'm definitely going to try all the SPC offerings in future.
