To many fans of classic movies, jazz music, and pipe smoking, there is one name that stands out: Bing Crosby. An actor and singer from the 1950's and 1960's, Bing has become the inspiration for this churchwarden esque bent billiard pipe. This pipe is a dark walnut smooth finished bowl and also comes in a rustic finish.

Savinelli Bing's Favorite Billiard
This is my third Savinelli. All three are great smokers. The break-in was a snap. I was leery of taking on another pipe that required a filter, but I could not resist when Savinelli came out with this year's Saint Nikolas series and I went for the bent Brandi. After that grabbing this Bing's Favorite was an easy decision. And I found the filter isn't really a filter, just a triangle shaped chunk of balsa wood that absorbs moisture and grabs some of the tars out of the smoke. I am not a fan of filters as I want the full flavor of the tobacco. This system has no affect on the flavor or ease of draw. Both this pipe and the St. Nick smoke sweet and cool. I highly recommend giving the 6mm system a try.

Bings Favorite
Despite other reviews claiming the bowl was too small and heated up quickly I found it to smoke quite well and the size was comparable to some of the other straights and mild bent pipes that I own. It is a lightweight pipe and is shorter than I imagined. It does not come with any filter adapter like some of the other Savinelli's I own but the balsa fit in this is not as restrictive as in my others. The fit and finish was quite nice and I do enjoy keeping this in my rotation.

Bingo
THE classic pipe from the '40's- great smoker, lightweight, elegant look. It's everything a pipe should be. Buy a couple of them, this is one of those pipes you'll cherish as long as you're a smoker.

Great Performer!
This pipe sings smooth like Bing. You can't go wrong with this pipe. It is light and easy to clench, and easy to light with one hand. The bowl is medium size and it is convenient for a satisfying smoke between Big Band sets. I have this in smooth and rusticated and enjoy both. These are great for a 20 minute smoke that is rich and satisifying. Tuck it away and light it up again a little later when you have a 20 minute window to savor one of your favorite tobaccos. Happy I own these and I would not have purchased a second (smooth) if I did not really really like the first one I bought.

Bowl size
I like the pipe but the bowl size needs more wood to stop it from heating up pretty quickly. Over a short period of time if you use it daily the pipe will be ruined.

Good but not Great
Nice finish overall, the issue I have is that it is a bit too deep and narrow, make it hard to relight when you're down to the bottom. But it looks ultra SMART in your hand, 4 stars for the look, 1 missing star for the design.
