Rattray's pipe tobacco blends began in 1903 with Charles Rattray's small shop in Perth, Scotland. As the shop grew and expanded thanks to his skill and tobacco expertise, Charles soon brought in more aspects of smoking into his business. He would soon become a masterful pipe maker, to go alongside the tobacco blends he would be known to craft. Soon, his pipes took center stage while the tobacco was the supporting piece to his business.
While today, the company is known for its pipe brand, its origins as tobacco blenders are evident in each of their distinctive labels.
We offer you 24 different tobacco blends from Rattray's to enjoy. They have balanced unique tobaccos and traditional styles masterfully and use the names of their blends to pay homage to their history. Old Gowrie, for example, which is a favorite amongst pipe smokers, was inspired by the geographical area around the old Perthshire, where Rattray's first shop opened.
