The bent Brandy that is the ‘68’ shape from Peterson pipes is a unique looking piece. A hefty tapered bowl meets up at its wide bottom with a thin shank leading into a dramatically bent stem. When paired with dark stain, sterling silver ring and swirled stem of the Harp series, it’s an interesting addition to any collector who loves the Peterson aesthetic.

Irish Harp 68, a smooth smoke
My first Peterson. I did some research, as I have heard of the challenge of breaking in Peterson pipes, and I am glad I did. This pipe was dip stained and reducing the amount of stain in the bowl will go a long way towards a relatively short break in. I determined that a bourbon scrub would be the best approach. With my own spin on it, I took an old used brush, my Sonicare electric toothbrush and some very cheap bourbon I keep around for cooking and gave the bowl a good scrubbing. Much of the stain came off nicely. I started with a loose packing and gentle draw smoking it once a day for about six days gradually increasing the pack. It took about ten days before I could enjoy a full bowl without chemical taste from residual stain, but now it is a very enjoyable smoke. I have read of Peterson's taking months to break in. The Harp is now a beautiful addition to my regular rotation.

Very good pipe
Very good pipe. Smooth drawing and good smoking. May be the best pipe I've ever owned. Also very competitively priced.
