The Peterson Flake, formally known as the Dunhill Flake, is one of, if not the most recognizable flake tobacco in production. Made from a straight pressed Virginia leaf combination (made of lemon and bronze Virginia), the amount of flavor present in one small bowl is legendary. While we suggest smoking this tobacco as soon as you receive it, we also suggest ordering a few extra tins and putting them in the cellar. This medium strength sweet Virginia is going to age exceptionally well.

Tobacco
Absolutely the most delicious Virginia I have ever had. If you like OGS then this is for you, it’s like Orlik just better, like way better, there is more hay fresh cut grassy-ness more lemon and more sugar. I would give this tobacco 6 stars if I could, Orlik is like a 4.5 to me.

Good
Tin note smells of compost pile like rotting grass clipping in the summer sun. Taste is good but gets harsh as it burns down the bowl. Not my favorite but it’s good.

Outstanding Flake
I really like this flake. It is mild and has a great taste and aroma. It packs and burns well whether or not you break it up or smoke it wadded up.

Fantastic tobacco
Very rich and smooth tobacco. Smells almost exactly like alfalfa. Definitely my favorite pipe tobacco I’ve had this far.

Wonderful
A great plain flake, I thoroughly enjoyed smoking it. The flavors are subtle, but if you appreciate a lighter smoke, that rewards slow smoking, this is a great bet.

Start with a classic
Sometimes you get lucky and begin with a classic and have a great baseline for comparison. I feel that is what happened to me. I see some reviewed this when it was Dunhill, and that after some time it's now produced under Peterson. Either way, it was an excellent introduction to quality Virginia tobacco. I found this one to be sweeter than Briar Fox (one of my favs and another reviewer also mentioned), at least at the beginning of the tin. It's been open now for a while, and either my palate is changing a little or the time has lessened some of the sweetness. Regardless, it's still delicious. I ordered 4 more .... so far.
