Orlik Golden Sliced Pipe Tobacco Tins

Only been smoking pipe tobacco for about half a year now. Moved on from rookie aromatics. Did my basic research on popular go-to blends and came across Orlik golden sliced of course and was Not disappointed. Very approachable for beginners & intermediate smokers. Not too complex. A subtle sweet dried fruit aroma comes off it when opening the tin & when rubbing it out, but not Too sweet when smoked. Virginia Perique blends (VaPer blends) are usually pretty mild & straightforward. Not a lot of complex notes. A mild sweet citrus mixed with earthy hay/sweet grass. No bite.

Although there have been numerous reviews and I don't like being redundant; I truly felt compelled to leave one myself. For those of us which enjoy a non-aromatic blend and even an English tobacco (this isn't) now and again, Orlik Golden Sliced will not disappoint. As previously mentioned, it isn't excessively moist, packs/folds well and the room notes are tolerable for the most part. I won't give it more than 3-stars however, because the taste can become a bit acidy if not smoked with extreme patience, which we all can loose on occasion. All in all, I will keep a couple of tins in my stock and can fully understand why it's been around for so many years.

Trying it for the first time. I am a big fan of Early morning pipe and I think Golden slice will replace it as my all-day tobacco. Tin note is excellent. Does anyone else notice the fennel seeds aroma in the tin

I'm new to this one after not trying it for years. This is the VA sister to MacBaren Golden Extra in that this is a simple, light, mildly sweet rendition on VA where the Golden Extra is the same with Burley. This is a smoke that doesn't completely coat your mouth, it can be smoked up to a meal, goes well with coffee and sweet teas. It's an easy burning all day smoke with a reasonable level of nicotine that develops more as the bowl progresses. This is not a heavy cloying rich VA and that is not a bad thing. The simplicity in this is the value. I'm a fan of heavier VA/per blends and this is not in that category to me at all. I find it is best appreciated in a dedicated VA pipe as the subtlety comes out better when it's not competing with the ghosts of balkan or full English use.

Tin note of hay, grass, and malt. Moisture content is perfect straight out of tin. Cut is great for rubbing out or fold and stuff. Flavor is mild to medium with natural sweetness from start to finish. This is one that I return to time and again.

What I liked about it. It is a naturally sweet smoke with a small kick of spice. The cut flacks break up and pack perfectly with the option of folding and stuffing. What I didn’t like.
