    English Luxus Review

This was a nice smoking experience for me, the tin/bag note is nice and not over bearing on any one tobacco leaf. The smoke was nice and smooth, I enjoy the room note as well.

Great smoky pine needle taste to this one. Will be buying more in the future.

    Rather mild and sweet

Posted by John Foley on 27th Mar 2024

Not much Latakia in this one. I think earlier in my pipe-smoking days I'd have rated this more highly. Now it's a bit too mild and sweet for me. Fine if you like this sort of thing. I find it sweeter than Stokkebye PS-17 even though they list the same components. It's rather like Lane HGL, though HGL is sweeter - another tobacco I used to like til my tastes changed to liking more Latakia-heavy blends. I may add some Latakia to this to try and make it more to my liking.

    Newminster No 17

Sadly, I have to say this was a very unpleasant tobacco. Excessively hot to the point at which my tongue and the roof of my mouth were burned. I had to discard nearly 4 oz of it because it was ultimately unsmokeable.

Sadly, I have to say that this is a very disappointing tobacco. While the aroma is acceptable, it burns so hot that your tongue and palate are burnt for the next 24 hours. The taste is acrid and it feels like you've burnt your mouth on hot food. I will probably have to throw away the rest of this as it is very unpleasant.

    Great!

The description says that there's no flavoring added, but this is a very sweet smoke. It is a very good aromatic english. I was very surprised how tasty this blend is. It's a lot like PS 17 Luxury English, but there's a subtle difference in the tin note. If you enjoy sweet aromatic English grab some.

    Really Good Blend

Posted by Julian Stevens on 26th Jan 2021

I smoke something with lat probably 8 out of 10 bowls. My favorite blends will be smoky and sweet and this one is just that. It isn't artificially sweet like Lane's HGL (which I enjoy fresh) this is just a hint of sweet on the backend. There is enough lat here to taste great but not so much that it gives you a dead tongue. Definitely going in the cellar next to Skiff Mixture and Margate.

Newminster No. 17 English Luxus Pipe Tobacco

This is a quality tobacco blend, but after smoking Red Odessa for quite a while, this blend is sweeter and does not seem to be as flavorful....just one man's opinion.

Easy smoking pipe tobacco. Great aroma that my wife likes. I order it regularly. Arrives in a few days.
