Missouri Meerschaum Mockingbird Bent Tobacco Pipe

Legend has it, in 1869 a Missouri farmer, with no pipe to pack, resourcefully whittled one from a corn cob. The corn cob pipe’s very existence seems to support the old maxim that “necessity is the mother of invention.” In a similar spirit, we may also say that limitation breeds creativity. We think that’s exemplified in how now, 155 years from that first cob, Missouri Meerschaum continues to bring originality to new designs.

We are so grateful they have granted us the privilege to introduce our own design in a TobaccoPipes.com exclusive—The Mockingbird. 

The Mockingbird was designed in collaboration between the talented folks at Missouri Meerschaum and our own Jake McKenna, the artist behind Sutliff Tobacco’s beloved Birds of a Feather tin art.

The bowl features a dark, fumed rim, the stain fading toward the bottom to reveal the vibrant amber-orange base. A tall Rob Roy style bowl was chosen for its tapered silhouette, widening upward to a broad, rounded rim, wonderfully showcasing the sunburst finish. The attention-grabbing bowl is paired with a simple, brown, hardwood shank, slightly angled up to a nickel band. The Italian acrylic stem’s dark, taupe hue shows pale accenting wisps, most noticeable when they catch light for a subtle, balanced allure

Note: Due to the unique nature of a corncob, the hand stain technique and acrylic stems there will be some variations between the pipe received compared to the one photographed.
