Mac Baren HH Latakia Flake is a smooth and flavorful English flake tobacco. The mixture is pressed tightly and steamed before being sliced into small and uniform flakes. Premium leaf is used with minimal casing and no topping. The melding of flavors during pressing results is a well rounded and full smoke.

A great flake. The flavor is superb.
One of my very favorites.

Surprisingly Smooth
Perhaps my palate is "off" but I actually didn't find this to be overwhelming, or make me think of what others refer to as a "lat bomb". I found it to be delightfully smoky but smooth as butter with some sweetness to it that made it a pleasure to smoke from beginning to end. While it won't be a "daily", it is definitively one that I will keep around for my regular "repeat" list. It performed well with several pipes of various shapes and sizes. Notably, I have not yet been disappointed in the slightest by any blend or leaf in the Mac Baren HH line.

Latakia
Very good smoke.

latakia
The smell out of the tin is strong and smoky (delicious), but the taste is not that strong. Don't expect a lat-bomb, is very good tobacco, perfectly balanced, just let it dry a bit before lighting it.

Lakkia Flake
For the lovers of Latakia, you need to try this and smoke it by itself or use for making your blend.

Not blown away
If you're looking for a Lat Bomb, this is not it. It is a nice English flake. I like English blends. I'll probably smoke it again some time, but it is not one of my top favorites.

Top Five...
I've been at this pipe smoking "hobby" for about two years now, and consider myself a fairly good judge of tobacco blends, and I absolutely adore MacBaren's HH Latakia Flake. I am keeping a pipe smoking journal, and listed this as one of my top 5 favorites!!! The aroma out of the HH Latakia flakes' storage jar is rich, vinegary, ketchupy and peppery. You got it: just like a delicious BBQ sauce!!! And the Latakia, of course, hits your olfactory senses like a Lat bomb, but not when you smoke it. It's taste turns into a bold Latakia complexity that is enhanced by the marriage of the hot pressed Virginia's , the Burley for a stout back bone and the Orientals for a bit of subtle spiciness... There is even a bit of sweetness from the Virginia's that doesn't come on too strong and plays around with your taste buds. Not confusing them, but offering-up a bit of euphoria and playfulness! All of these tobaccos work in perfect harmony giving the lead role to the woody, smokey Latakia that the blender purposely intended. Well, they did a fantastic job of it! Mellow and mature tasting, burns cool, no tongue bite, lights easily and burns slowly for a relaxing experience. I bought the 3.5 oz. because I knew based on the other HH series of pipe tobaccos that it was going to be a smash HIT, and it is just that... At least I don't have to worry about losing this HH Latakia Flake to some corporate whim or flights of fancy by tobacco giants... It's that good. And, after all of this you better do yourself and me a favor and try it and see, smell, and taste a truly magnificent , but mellow smoke. Again, it's that good!
