Gawith % Hogarth Broken Flake #7
This was my first foray into "Lakeland " blends. The Lakeland essence seems to be very polarizing, with people either loving or hating it. Place me firmly in the "love it" camp! This stuff is fantastic! High quality leaf in a Broken Flake. The Virginias are forward and I find the Lakeland essence reminiscent of Deer Tongue, not the same, but it adds a similar effect on a blend. Very old-timey! It reminds me of the pipe my grandfather used to smoke. Medium strength with an underlying sweetness, a full.mouth feel, and a pleasant room note. It took some effort to get a good charring light, but burned easily to the bottom on a single true light. This is a perfect blend for anyone wanting to try out a Lakeland because while it is always present, it's not overpowering. I liked it so much I ordered a 500g bag.

No. 7 broken flake
I don’t rub this much, nor pack it tight-giving the tobacco more air. The Virginia is the star of the blend giving up a hay and dark fruit taste. The burley/Kentucky tobaccos play an excellent supporting role. The floral note is noticed inside of the vanilla topping that results in a creamy smoke. I like GH for the High Quality processing & Tobaccos. I tip my hat for these English gentlemen.
