Fantastic dark fired blend
Gawith Hoggarth has become one of my favorite sources for high-quality, clean-burning, no-goop tobaccos (word to the wise: even "natural" tobaccos are often a fifth sugar and flavorings). "Kendal Mixed" combines "Kendal Dark," a dark-fired Kentucky Burley blend, and "Kendal Gold," a pressed and aged bright Virginia, for a flavor like molasses. I detected only a very slight hint of something Lakeland-ish in the background, but it went away when I waved a Bible at it. For me, this blend burns easily down to fine grey ash (you only get white ash under low humidity conditions, I have found) and smokes very naturally. I find myself breath-smoking this one by instinct, and so a bowl lasts a good couple of hours. It's medium in nicotine, moderate in flavor, but intensely rewarding. I could smoke this all day. For me, this may be the ultimate "office" blend, in that while I'm sixteen file folders and two server racks deep into a task, a pipe of this keeps me from grumbling too much, quite a feat since I've mastered the art of grumbling around a pipe stem long ago.
