G.L. Pease tobaccos endeavor to allow the pleasure of the tobacco's authentic flavor to shine through. The company is relatively young, only founding in 2000. However, the founder's infatuation with tobacco has been around since he was in college.
Gregory L. Pease's start as a pipe smoker happened through inspiration, a High School science teacher who used a tobacco with a pleasant and comfortable aroma. After that, Pease would find his way into Drucquer & Sons, an old tobacco store that had been in Berkley, California, since 1928.
Pease loved that store so much that he got a job working there, which helped fuel his education and became an excellent apprenticeship. This is how he learned about the more subtle natures of tobacco and tobacco pipes, which left a lasting impression on the man.
After leaving Drucquer & Sons, Pease decided to open up his own shop. He opened this new blending company in 1998 with some college friends, which lasted until late 1999. From the ashes of that business rose G. L. Pease Artisanal Tobacco.
Pease's blends are made for tobacco enthusiasts to appreciate the flavor of the tobacco leaves, with flavoring added minimally and only used to enhance the authentic flavor of the tobacco.
Pease wants to enhance the flavor because he only chooses the best tobacco available, so there is no need to mask any less than prime quality tobacco. This makes the pipe tobacco that G. L. Pease produces something everyone can easily enjoy, a smooth and comfortable smoke that allows you to appreciate the tobacco and not some gloopy additive.
We provide 43 different G. L. Pease blends in six different categories. Each tobacco is made by hand. This traditional manufacturing allows the company to adapt to any environmental changes, providing a consistency that would otherwise need outside influences. Instead, you get tobacco as it was made in the past, and how Pease believes it should still be made.
