Erinmore Flake Pipe Tobacco Tin

Erinmore Flake remains something of an enigma. Featuring a sturdy tobacco flavor that also offers what can only be described as unmistakable notes of flowers and Juicy Fruit gum, I find this idiosyncratic combination delectable. Many pipe smokers do not. Apparently only two blenders at a time know the secret formula of this intriguing tobacco. Some pipers also detect spice notes at the back end of this smoke: nutmeg, clove and allspice spring to mind. The flakes arrive without moisture issues, and I would avoid drying them for fear of losing some of their unique flavor. Erinmore maintains a light without issues, requiring few if any relights. It burns fairly cool and rewards a calm cadence. Erinmore is a popular tobacco but something of a divisive one. It cannot be described as an aromatic because the moderately robust tobacco flavor predominates. I would rather call it a non-aromatic with benefits.

It would be hard to love this more: a sweet but rich Virginia flake, with more to offer than pure bright Virginia flakes, with enough Burley to give it strength and Cavendish to make it burn easily. Fold, twist, stuff, light, and enjoy; the mild almond, fruit, and floral topping melds with the Virginia flavor and remains an influence but not dominating element of the taste of this blend. You can pop open a tin and enjoy a flake or two each time you reach for a pipe, and do it all day too, since this has "enough" strength but avoids being a powerhouse. Every time I open one of these tins, it takes over my pipes like a rescued lover and when I hit the last flake, I hope I have more stashed away somewhere. In fact, I'm thinking of having TobaccoPipes keep a running order to send me a dozen of these a month so I never experience the sad empty loss of the depleted last tin on my desk every again.

I have been smoking Erinmore Flake for about ten years and have never gotten tired of it.

I mostly taste mixed brown and bright Virginias, but there is Cavendish and Burley in the mix, as well as some kind of fruity topping with relatively low sugar. These flakes burn easily and provide a comfortable, low-complexity introduction to the Navy flake genre, even if not exactly the Navy flake as everyone else does it. Sign me up for another dozen tins, since they only last about three days each, which shows you how much I reach for this blend.

Another favorite of mine. Been smoking it for years. A subtle topping gives it just the right flavor and room note. I only wish that you could buy it in bulk.

Erinmore, a great tobacco blend. In a flake, the taste is much more pronounced than in an ordinary mixture. The only drawback of this tobacco is its price!
