If sweet Aromatics are your thing then Dan Tobacco’s Sweet Vanilla Honeydew is a must-try. A mix of Virginias becomes the bright and sunny perfect complement to the vanilla and honey flavoring. This isn’t a super complex blend, but both the flavor and the room note will win fans for Dan with pipe smokers and their cohabitating friends and family.

DAN TOBACCO SWEET VANILLA HONEYDEW
Normally I stay clear from Aromatic but this was a gift from a friend that does not smoke aromatics so of course I had to give it a try . The Bag note is sweet Vanilla and some lite cooking spice smells. My sample was quite dry and already rubbed out. Packed very easily in a large diameter shallow bowl. This is a very good aromatic for those of us that don't smoke aromatics. The flavor of vanilla is very lite with no chemical taste at all and you can still taste the tobacco. Starts out with a bit of harshness but smooths out after a few puffs. My sample was a bit old so I will need to obtain a fresh tin to determine the difference. The Virginia burns a bit warm but not too hot if you are not freight training it. The Nic hit is very lite and the tobacco is lite as well. Needs a few relights but burns very even. If you are normally a non aromatic smoker this is a nice change that is not overly doused with flavorings. I will buy this again and keep a few tins on hand. 4 Stars. Updated review new fresh tin . The vanilla is much more prominent in the fresh tin along with a caramel smell. The tobacco is a bit more course like a ready rubbed flake and just a bit on the moist side but needs no drying time . The harshness in the beginning of the bowl I experienced in the older sample I was given is not there in the fresh tin. It does require a few relights but stays smooth and consistent. I can say without a doubt this is a much better smoke fresh. Burnes cooler as well. The older version I had lost quite a bit of the flavors that are present in the new version, as the smell from the tin translates well into the smoke itself. If you are looking for a mild aromatic this is a very good one to try. Pipe Used: many briar pipes Age When Smoked: aged and fresh

Sweet Vanilla Honesuckle
So far this has been the best tobacco I have smoked. Taste is great, aroma is very pleasant. Received compliments on the aroma. I had been a Captain Black Dark smoker, but no more.

Dan Sweet Vanilla Honeydew
Love this stuff. Twice the price of my staple Golden Cavendish, but three times tastier. Gonna be a regular smoke. Very sweet upfront and gets a bit more even at the bottom.

Older fellow but new piper here so you can weigh my comments by my lack of experience I suppose. The tin was in good condition, but the liner was somewhat of a wadded-up mess, not like other very sleekly folded and closed lined tins I've opened. Yes, that's minor but a sign of attention to detail and quality to me. It smelled like clean fresh hay, slightly sweet vanilla, toasted oats maybe, maybe slightly lemony, very pleasant and fresh smelling but not exactly honeydew to me. It was slightly dryish, almost crackly in my fingers but didn't burn hot or fast, stayed lit well and I was able to get good long sessions of slowly sipping it between a few relights. I was told that the room note (well the porch for me) was nice, fresh, warm and mild. I noticed a very pleasant mouth feel and taste, faint sweetness but no distinct flavoring but early in the bowl I noticed a hint of something acidic, not harsh or chemically just a twang, lemony maybe - it resolved to a real nice cool and pleasant slightly sweet smoke towards mid-bowl with no unpleasant aftertastes. I did not notice any nicotine dizziness and I tend to be sensitive, so I appreciate its mildness in that regard. And I did not notice any bite. This is one that I will likely return to as my pallet and piping skills start to develop and see if I am able to find more flavor or subtleties in it. Overall, very pleased with it.

Excellent room note. A crowd pleaser. Can smoke it at anytime. Mild taste and no bite at all.

Tobacco
By far the best room note I have found in a tobacco. Smokes a tad hot so be careful not to get mouth burn. The taste of this tobacco is great. This is definitely my favorite daily tobacco, I have both loads of it and every oz seems to be blended exactly the same. I will say that obviously the 50 gram tins are fresher than the bulk purchases; however still by far the best on the market in my opinion.
