On the banks of the Elbe River in Lauenburg, Germany, the Dan Tobacco Company's factory churns out a steady supply of high quality pipe tobacco.
Founded in 1972 by smoking enthusiast Heiko Behrens, Dan Tobacco quickly established itself as one of the premier tobacco companies in Northern Germany. They rapidly grew, needing more space than before. Eventually, they found themselves at their current factory, where they began producing 60,000 Kg of tobacco per year.
That may seem like a small amount, but it allows Dan to age their tobacco over a longer period of time. This aging process makes Dan Tobacco a higher quality product, something that has earned a massive following, especially with fans of Aromatics.
The Dan Tobacco manufacturing process creates tobacco between 50 to 400 Kg per blend at a time. Workers initially loosen the tobacco by hand before being moistened to allow the leaves to absorb the aromatic combinations that make the tobacco smell and taste so good. These aromatic combinations are usually plum pulp, licorice juices, and other natural spices. These tobaccos will be left resting for at least a day to allow everything to mix together before being finalized with another spraying, then another rest to get any excess moisture to evaporate.
All the while, the tobacco has been cut and processed into the various styles that pipe tobacco is known for. Mostly, Dan Tobacco produces Flake and Ready Rub cuts, as they feel those are the best cuts for their tobacco's flavor and aroma. With the quality that is produced by them, who are we to argue?
We offer 27 different blends for you to enjoy. These blends are a wide variety, which should be large enough that any smoker can find a mixture that pleases, and at a pleasing price point too. Don't forget that 3-in-1 tool or other pipe accessories.
