Italian brand Toscano is best known for their "cheroots," fermented cigars that are made from American and Italian Dark-Fired Kentucky tobaccos. Now, in collaboration with Cornell & Diehl, Toscano presents the famously bold flavor of their cigars across the Maestro series of pipe tobacco blends. Toscano's Maestro Allegro is a ribbon-cut English blend that consists of Dark-Fired leaf sourced from Kentucky and Tennessee, stoved and unstoved Red Virginias, and a hint of smoky Latakia. Allegro showcases Toscano's signature bold and spicy flavor alongside subtle notes of vanilla, caramel, and maple.

Pleasant and enjoyable, but nothing spectacular

Posted by Brendan on 5th Mar 2024

Starting from the beginning, the tobacco has a wonderful tin note and is notably more dry than other tobaccos, which I enjoy. I tend to dry a bowls worth of tobacco before smoking anyway, and this was good to go straight from the tin. The tobacco smokes well and has a good dark and savory flavor just like Toscanos cigars, but it is very one dimensional and lacks strength. I find myself wishing it had more complexity and that the flavor was turned up a notch.
