Cornell & Diehl Exclusive Pipe Tobacco

I kept my 2 oz tin in a cool cabinet away from sunlight. It has a production date 011923. 1 month ago the bottom bulged outwards, and I thought the fermentation is in progress. Yesterday I checked again and top lid was bulging upwards. I decided to jar it as it should be ready to smoke. I pulled the tab and there was this loud POP like when opened a champagne bottle! Only louder! The top lid blew off and it rained tobacco confetti all over the floor. The tin blew a meter away. I was dazed, amused and luckily I was not cut. I didn’t expect this as I have read that tin rarely popped. Well it did and now truly believe that tobacco in tin really ferment. The tin note smells heavily ( and terribly) of fermentation. I thought it is more like smelling salted fish lol. It’s very musky too. I smoked 2 bowls and the perique was very mild. It is not spicy at all. There’s a slight peppery aftertaste. Overall it is smoky, woody, earthy. The good thing is the tobacco burns very nicely, few relighting needed, and it does not bite you, not sure if I will order again, I will smoke the rest and may change my mind later.

Smooth, tasty, cool burning. Not quite the old #967, but close. I will purchase again.

This is a great tobacco blend. The mix of Virginia's with the perique makes for a really nice smoke. I particularly enjoy it after a meal or just relaxing at the end of the day. If you're a fan of any type of perique blend then you will most definitely enjoy this selection.

I have been on a journey to find a VaPer that is unapologetically in your face. After hearing that this blend has 50% perique I knew I must get a hold of some. I have seen many reviews say that this is more likely 30% Perique, I can tell you that it is higher. The bag note (I got 16oz.) Is of sweet bread and chocolate with a ghost of pepper left in the nose. In the bowl this blend is amazing. Tangy, bready, red Virginia and stoved red Virginia Cavendish really bring on a natural sweetness and then the perique slaps you in the face like the beautiful mistress that she is and I love it. Spice, red pepper powerhouse dancing on my tongue; the sweet and spicy mingling and washing over my palate leaving me like a child who just had their favorite candy bar. Lady nicotine is ever present and if your puff carelessly she will let you know she is not happy. In all seriousness, if you are looking for an Outstanding VaPer with a high dose of Perique, this is topnotch. Highly recommend getting a few tins or a bag as this can only get better with age.
