Just like the Maya line, Chacom reached out to popular French culture for the name of this series. The Chacom Maigret line of smoking pipes was created in honor of the fictional French detective and notable pipe smoker Jules Maigret.
Notable author Georges Simenon created the Jules Maigret's character, publishing the first of the Maigret detective novels in 1931. The character quickly established himself as a cult favorite, with fans demanding his return soon after reading the first of the stories. Simenon obliged, and in his prolific way, delivered many more Maigret novels. There were ten stories released in 1931, with seven more following the next year. By the time Simenon finished with Maigret, he had 75 novels and 28 short stories published, one of the most prolific fictional detectives in history.
Maigret is often compared to the legendary British detective Sherlock Holmes and has a notable list of actors who have portrayed the detective on film, including Richard Harris, Michael Gambon, and Rowan Atkinson.
Maigret was a prolific pipe smoker, with Simenon writing that the detective had a pipe stand in his office with fifteen different tobacco pipes resting on it at any given moment.
It is this character that Chacom honored with their Maigret line of tobacco pipes. We provide you with all three options from this line, the Natural, the Brown, and the Sandblast finishes. Whichever one you choose, you shall have a gorgeous pipe for your collection, starting you down the path to eventually match the detective himself. It is to Chacom's credit, with their rich history and vast experience, that they continue to create beautiful pipes that we all can appreciate and enjoy.
