Captain Earle’s Diamond Head is named to commemorate the marriage of namesake, Captain Earle and Honor Matthews. Cornell & Diehl also thought to call it a celebration of Atlas Blending Company’s recipe coming together with more modern pipe tobaccos. Red Virginia, Latakia and Oriental come together in this medium strength krumble kake.

Frequent go-to
I tend to smoke lighter blends (i.e., with little or no latakia). When I want something more substantial, though, this is my favorite latakia blend (so far). It is surprisingly smooth and rarely bites. I love both the aroma in the tin and the room note. Next, I'll give Captain Earle's Nightwatch a try.

Not for me
This is way above my comfort zone. It's too pungent and smells like a wild animal living under my house. The taste was more like sucking on my underwear after a 3day hiking trip. NOT FOR ME

Captain Earle's Diamond Head is my special "sit back and relax" tobacco.
I'm no connoisseur of pipe tobacco. Therefore I won't try to describe it's nuances or characteristics. Just sip it and Cap't Earle's Diamond Head will do the rest. I use a (light weight) bent pipe when I want a hands-free smoke clenched in my teeth. I use a Churchwarden (mostly) for Diamond Head.

One of my new favorites
A ribbon cut pressed into a block.... denser than ten Russians and incredibly flavorful. If the yellow sticker on the tin is the date of manufacture then mine was a year and a half. A sweet and sour creosotey smack you upside the head Latakia powerhouse. Smokes great straight from the tin with minimal relights. Captain Earl is my new favorite baccy.
