This Brigham filter doesn't impede airflow and still allows for a great smoke. This is three inches of fresh wood to help remove acid and moisture that will help with tongue bite. These are reusable a few times. After each smoke, remove, rinse and let dry.

Brigham Rock Maple Dist. Pipe Filters
Good fit with the pipe -- snug, no gaps. Better of the filter type designs.

Rock Maple Distillators
I have two Brighams in my 12 pipe rotation and really enjoy them. Both use these distillators and they work great. I use two distillators at a time for each pipe. I smoke one and after it cools I clean the pipe removing and exchanging the distillators. I set the used one aside after cleaning it to let it dry completely. When deep cleaning my pipes I soak both distillators in Everclear for a few minutes and then clean them. After six months they still looked great and the pipe tasted great. I replaced them, but really did not need to. Very effective system.

These work well enough. I prefer the charcoal filter.ters

Maybe a Great System
I don't know why, but these things do what I want them to do. I'm a "wet" smoker and these keep my smoke dry. I get no gurgle. The flavor of the smoke is unaffected. A pipe cleaner does pass through. The only question now is how often to replace them. At these prices, I think I will replace more often, maybe after 4 or 5 smokes.

Maple pipe distillators
Awesome product. Absorbs moisture as well as tar and nicotine and allows a smooth even smoking experience. I make sure my pipes except this unique filter proper to purchasing.

Rock Maple filters
Filter pipes are kind of a side interest of mine in the pipes I collect and smoke myself, and these are pretty impressive. In terms of "softening" the bite of tobaccos they're not quite as effective as 9mm filters, but you can put a pipe cleaner through them and re-use them, so that gets them extra bonus points. I'll be grabbing another Brigham one of these days, it's a good pipe for the money.
