Ashton Pipes stands as a hallmark of British craftsmanship, blending tradition with innovation. Founded in the early 1980s by William "Bill" Ashton-Taylor and David Field, Ashton sought to revive the classic British pipe design. Bill, a former Dunhill apprentice, honed his skills in every aspect of pipemaking, from shaping to finishing. His mastery of the traditional oil-curing process and dedication to handcrafting each pipe set Ashton apart in the market. Paired with Field’s business acumen and passion for collecting, the two launched a brand that honored the meticulous craftsmanship pioneered by Dunhill while introducing fresh approaches to the art.

Ashton’s Pebble Grain and Pebble Shell finishes became beloved among enthusiasts, embodying the spirit of classical English pipemaking with a distinct personality. Over the years, the company also embraced new innovations, such as the introduction of Ashtonite stems.

Following Bill's passing in 2009, the brand was carried forward by Jimmy Craig, a Dunhill-trained silversmith and close collaborator. Today, Craig continues to uphold Ashton’s legacy, producing finely crafted pipes that reflect both the brand’s deep-rooted history and its ongoing commitment to quality and creativity. Ashton remains a cherished name among pipe collectors, symbolizing the enduring elegance and artistry of British pipemaking.
