Amphora Virginia Blend Pipe Tobacco Pouch - 1.75 oz

I found the Virginia blend to be mild in taste, smooth, and without any bite in the mouth.

I will admit, I didn’t expect to enjoy this blend as much as I did. I knew it wasn’t going to be bad, but I didn’t think it would be as good as it is for a pouch blend. It’s top shelf, high quality virginias and only virginias. It’s medium strength, but full of sweet, creamy, earthy and bready-goodness! The Kentucky blend is my favorite though!

And so, for about 15 years I did not buy this tobacco and now I decided to refresh my memory. Definitely not worth it. There are flavorings and the taste is not natural Virginia - this is a big minus. Dark brown crushed Virginia flakes with a subtle citrus flavor. Tobacco is wet - I suppose because of the chemistry. Dries for a very long time. Smoking is not enjoyable. Compared to the line of virgin tobaccos, this is not the best option. Conclusion - this tobacco is not for me. Unfortunately, I can't say enough good things about this tobacco.

Somehow my palate is a bit different from these other reviewers. I had discovered the sweetness of Virginia tobaccos from other brands and saw the reviews and price point on this and couldn't resist. Well, I tried several times, and several pipes, to find the same delicious sweetness and smooth burn in this blend that I had in others. For me, it just never happened. It had a bite that I couldn't get past and I could never find that smooth spot. Indeed, I even gave away the pouch when it was still about 90% full. I'm going with only 3 stars simply because that's what happened with my taste buds. For perspective, I have re-ordered several tins of Peterson Flake and Briar Fox.

I have found Amphora brand pouch pipe tobaccos to be high-quality product. The Virginia Blend is no exception. Its ribbon cut allows for a slow and smooth smoke. It is a true tobacco flavor with no added flavors. The aroma is mild and the flavor does not bite. It is a slow burn with little need to relight if gently tapped down during use. I enjoy the Virginia Blend for a relaxing smoke.

My order was shipped the same day and arrived in good condition. This blend is a good Virginia! I detect nothing added, just a nice pre rubbed flake that’s ready to stuff and smoke. If you lean on it a bit with more puffs it doesn’t bite. Keeps well if you smoke it out of the pouch so I use this when traveling. Will reorder.

Some a lot of Amphora blends years ago. I appreciate the return of Amphora Original and Virginia blends the most. The Virginia blend is great straight out of the pouch. Packs easy and smokes great with few relights. No bite even when pushed. Wish it came in a tub then it would easily be an all-day smoke for me.

Quite a pleasant blend. Even better when adding a small amount of Turkish Ribbon.
